Pizza Seasonings Guide 

Pizza Seasonings are often a mixture of dried basil, dried oregano and dried marjoram, but of course this can be altered and you can add whichever herbs and spices suit your taste. Other popular herbs and spices used in pizza seasoning are rosemary, thyme and chilli flakes which offer different, alternative flavours.

Pizzas usually have a dough base which`is freshly made. You can make these at home and there are many recipes you can choose. Or you can buy bases ready made in the supermarket. These  are fantastic for building your pizza at home if you do not have the time to make the dough for your base. Once you have your pizza base it can be be covered with a tomato pizza sauce. 

Pizza seasonings are readily available on line, or alternatively you can make your own at home. You will probably find you have the herbs and spices already in your spice rack, but if you need any particular herbs and spices then again they are available online.

It is also possible to buy the pizza bases online. There is quite a selection to choose from. Pizza tomato sauce is also available on line. It comes in a jar or carton. You can also make your own pizza tomato sauce at home. There are many different recipes to try.

Pizza Seasonings Cooking Tips

After the pizza base is ready and the pizza tomato sauce is added. The next step to building your pizza is to choose which topping you want. Popular toppings include, pepperoni, salami, sausage, bacon and prawns. This is to name just a few, as there are many more popular toppings. You can experiment and try whatever you desire. Then, of course, there are the vegetable toppings. The popular ones are onion, mushrooms, sweet corn, green bell pepper and olives. Again, you can use what ever takes your fancy.

Last but not least is the cheese, which is normally mozzarella.This can be bought as buffalo mozzarella which is normally a ball of fresh cheese. You can also buy mozzarella cheese pre grated in bags, so all you need to do is open and sprinkle! 

 Traditionally cooking pizza is done using a wood burning oven, but of course, they can be cooked in electric and gas ovens at home. I like to cook my pizza with the pre packed shredded mozzarella and using my own home made seasoning and pre made tomato sauce base. Then using a simple recipe to make a pizza dough or buying pre made pizza bases.

Pizza Seasonings



1 tablespoon dried basil

1 tablespoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried marjoram

1 teaspoon dried rosemary

1/2 teaspoon chilli flakes

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

1/4 teaspoon dried thyme


Place all the ingredients into a pestle and mortar and mix together until fully crushed. Or you can just mix thoroughly together in a bowl. Once finished sprinkle onto the pizza, adding as much or little depending on your taste.
